I recently booked Mont Vista Chateau for a retreat with eight female entrepreneurs, and the house provided ample space for each of us to enjoy our private moments after a day filled with workshops. The expansive living room and dining area allowed us to collaborate seamlessly, and our private chef, who prepared a delightful dinner one evening, dubbed the kitchen a chef’s dream.
The Bedrooms

One of the bedrooms is part of its own apartment over the garage, which was nice for our retreat because I was able to stay there and have some privacy away from the rest of my group in the house. The apartment over the garage has a king bed, its own bathroom, kitchen and living area and is of the same quality as the rest of the home.

Two Gourmet Kitchens
Mont Vista Chateau features two gourmet kitchens, one in the main house and another in the garage apartment. This open, expansive kitchen was large enough to accommodate all of our crew gathering at once to make breakfast or grab lunch off the buffet we set up on the kitchen island.
If you’d like to hire a private chef to pamper you one evening, I highly recommend Jenny Levasseur of The Happy Cuisinière. She accommodated a long list of allergies and diet preferences to create a fabulous meal for us.
While Jenny got situated in our kitchen, she put out some amazing queso dip for us to nibble on while she worked on the rest. Our starter was a beautiful watermelon, red onion, cucumber, tequila ceviche, then we moved on to a peach salad and an apple, carrot and sweet potato soup. Our main course was two different kinds of enchiladas: one with brussels sprouts and kale served with a mole sauce, and the other a beef and green chili with ranchero sauce. Rice, beans, guacamole, cheese and cilantro lime cream accompanied our entrees. Although we were stuffed, no one could resist the baked apples with regular or dairy-free ice cream to complete our evening.
Jenny also now does local wine pairings from Carboy Winery, which is one of my favorite spots in town (I love the Viognier and Albarino, but all their wines are excellent).
The Living Area
Our crew of 10 easily gathered in the living and dining area for workshops we held throughout our stay. There was plenty of room for the eight guests, myself and an employee.

What I loved about this house is that it’s big enough to gather with a large group of friends or family comfortably. You won’t ever feel like you’re all on top of each other.
On the lower level of the house, there’s a pool table and movie room with a 65″ television and large sectional sofa. Outside you’ll find a huge deck with expansive mountain views and a large hot tub for eight.
